FAQ
Knowledgecoin
What is Knowledgecoin?
The Knowledgecoin Platform is the “anti-virus system” for the human mind. It is designed to protect its users from misinformation, manipulation, and propaganda.
Knowledgecoin aspires to create the “Perfect Library” — a decentralized, reliable, verifiable, idealized repository of depoliticized knowledge on an incorruptible blockchain.
Knowledgecoin is a politically neutral common ground to fight all propaganda and misinformation.
Great. But what exactly, is Knowledgecoin?
Two things: A technology ecosystem and a corresponding cryptotoken that grants access to its goods and services.
The Knowledgecoin platform is a decentralized knowledge validation system.
Knowledgecoin cryptotoken is the token of the Knowledgecoin platform realm.
When can I buy Knowledgecoin currency or tokens?
Knowledgecoin is available for private sale in 4th Quarter of 2022 and will be publicly traded on exchanges in 2023.
How much do Knowledgecoin currency or tokens cost?
Knowledgecoin will launch at a market determined cost.
How many Knowledgecoins will there be?
There will never be more than 125,000,000 Knowledgecoins minted.
Will any more Knowledgecoins be minted later on?
No. That would reduce the value of existing coins.
Cryptocurrency
What is a cryptotoken?
Crypto tokens are digital assets that are built on another cryptocurrency's blockchain
Are cryptocurrencies and cryptotokens the same?
A cryptocurrency can be a coin or a token, depending on whether it's the native cryptocurrency for its own blockchain or not. Crypto coins have their own underlying blockchains; crypto tokens don't.
Cryptowallet
What is a cryptowallet?
A private, secure account in which an individual’s cryptocurrency is deposited, stored, or withdrawn from, analogous to a checking or savings account in a bank.
Does it cost money to get a cryptowallet?
In the Knowledgecoin’s economy, users who purchase Knowledgecoin cryptocurrency, or who earn it by electing to perform certain tasks in the system (e.g., watch commercials, create knowledge content, etc.) are gifted a free wallet.
Where can I get a cryptowallet?
Once the platform goes live, wallets will become available to all users of the platform via a user-friendly button prominently displayed on the website.
Can I use a cryptowallet from outside Knowledgecoin?
Yes, just like other cryptocurrencies, Knowledgecoin will be listed on cryptocurrency exchanges, so it will be fungible wherever cryptocurrencies are accepted.
Blockchain
What, exactly, is a blockchain?
A digital chain of stacked informational blocks, such that each time a transaction occurs a new informational block containing that novel information is added to the previously existing chain of blocks constituting the blockchain.
What does a blockchain do?
It stores information about all transactions and additions to itself in an immutable fashion.
How does a blockchain work?
It stores information in such a way that every block is a permanent record of when that block itself and every other block in the chain was added, and thus it functions as an immutable record.
How can I see the Knowledgecoin blockchain?
Once Knowledgecoin goes live, there will be user-friendly buttons prominently displayed on the website to enable any member to view and validate any element of the Knowledgecoin blockchain, as well as explainer and tutorial videos to guide any and all users to validate any and all information added to the Knowledgecoin blockchain for themselves.
NFTs
What is an NFT?
A non-fungible token. It can have a number of functions, e.g., as a piece of art, collector’s item, a sort of copyright, a symbol of achievement, an admission ticket, an element required in a certain kind of game, etc.
Knowledgecoin has introduced the revolutionary idea that unique Concepts, Logic, Reason, and Knowledge can be recorded and owned as Non-Fungible Tokens.
The owner of an NFT can derive payment in tokens every time that this item is referenced by others in the community as part of a larger claim. In this way, long-term token income can be derived from submitting valid robust bricks into the pyramid of knowledge.
NFTs are simply transactions that are stored on the blockchain, much like crypto-currencies. However, what sets an NFT apart from crypto-currencies is that an NFT is unable to be broken down beyond its non-fungible feature.
An NFT is essentially a certificate of authenticity associated with a digital creation, in this case an authentically created Concept, Logic, Reason, and/or Knowledge item.
Knowlegecoin will offer the ability for people to create NFTs as well as a secondary market where NFTs can be bought and sold.
What’s the difference between an NFT and a copyright?
Given its multiple uses, an NFT is more of a multi-purpose tool, whereas a copyright has only its one function, namely, the right to be paid for that knowledge being copied and/or used by others.
The DAO
What is a DAO?
A “decentralized autonomous organization”
How is a DAO different from majoritarianism, mob rule?
Some DAOs might actually function in a purely majoritarian or mob rule fashion, depending on how they are structured, e.g., if all coin holders in a crypto-DAO have equal voting rights and there are no other mechanisms in place to prevent it, then that DAO will function as a majoritarian system
Is the Knowledgecoin DAO vulnerable to majoritarianism?
No, the Knowledgecoin DAO is structured to not allow for majoritarian rule, but rather in a way that any member is able to propose, mine, validate, or contribute to the validation of content in the knowledgebase, which content is ranked according to usefulness to other users of that content in the system.
How is a knowledge content creator rewarded or penalized in the Knowledgecoin DAO?
For example, supposing a medical student studying for an exam decides to enter their detailed notes on epidemiology into the knowledgebase, if others use those notes, then they accrue a positive valence in the system; otherwise not.
If an epidemiologist goes in an enters claims that invalidate the medical student’s notes, then the medical student and their notes accrue negative valences in the system. The more that a certain content is used effectively by others in the system, the more the author of that content benefits and the greater their knowledge status becomes in the DAO.
What prevents a group of bad actors from hijacking the DAO?
Content providers will be required to stake a certain amount of Knowledgecoin to function as escrow for every element of content they propose into the system, which they will forfeit if their content is subsequently invalidated by others in the DAO.
This system thereby incentivises the exposing of misinformation by others and disincentivizing the insertion of misinformation by any and all members of the ecosystem.
